TDP, Once upon a time - the one and only alternative to checkmate the monopoly of the Indian National Congress party. TDP, the only party which had for the first time restored the dignity of the Telugu people. TDP, the only party which was raised by forming a closer bond between the government and the common people. TDP, the only party which had won by an absolute majority, winning 199 out of the 294 seats in the state assembly. TDP, the only party which could made the first non-Congress Chief Minister of the state of combined Andhra Pradesh.
TDP, the only party which had witnessed its own founder let down by his own son-in-law, Nara Chandrababu Naidu to takeover against NTR, in an apparent attempt to become the party president and Chief Minister. But he has very soon succeeded in making the combined Andhra Pradesh into an Asian tiger over the next few years. He brought both Bill Clinton (President of the United States at that time), Tony Blair (Prime Minister of the United Kingdom at that time) and Bill Gates (CEO of the IT giant, Microsoft). Chandrababu later directly or indirectly helped to bring even Microsoft’s second biggest campus into Hyderabad. He constructed the most famous Hi-Tech City which has increadable growth in the IT industry in Hyderabad and led to the birth of a new IT city named as Cyberabad. This was also named by Chandrababu during his second tenure as the AP CM. Later of cource Hyderabad has become one of the best IT hubs in the world. And also Chandrababu is the only Indian chief minister (apart from Narendra Modi) who was published and praised by several international magazines. the American news magazine, Time commented, "In just five years, he has turned an impoverished, rural backwater place into India's new information-technology hub" and also the magazine named him South Asian of the Year.
Now, those days are gone, that legacy is gone, state is bifurcated, odds are changed, TDP is finally faded in the Telangana region where once flurished like anything. It was left with a nominal presence. After a horrible failure in the 2016 GHMC elections, the Telugu Desam Party is now all set to shift its headquarters from Hyderabad to Vijayawada where he opened his camp office on Monday. Even the party decided to conduct any meetings with Telangana TDP leaders only in Vijayawada in the future. Currently, the party headquarters is located in a rented premises at Hyderabad. On the other hand and on the other part of the Telugu land, which is the truncated Andhra Pradesh is waiting to experience the same legacy of TDP which was earlier experienced by the combined state.
Again the credit goes to TDP in constructing a new world class capital city to the state of Andhra Pradesh called and named by TDP is Amaravati, near Vijayawada and Guntur cities. There have been several demands from various sections of people that the state government is shifting its base to Vijayawada at the earliest
The above story briefly narrates an incredible shift of a political party which once had a clean sweep in the elections is now swept away from that very location.
