Foundation stone lays for AP State’s Temporary Secretariat

17 February 2016

Andhra Pradesh CM, Chandrababu Naidu lays the foundation stone for the temporary Secretariat Building at Velagapudi village in Thullur mandalam during an auspicious muhurtam, 8.23 am on Wednesday.

One of the biggest infrastructure firms, L&T, has got the contract for taking up construction work of the temporary Secretariat building. AP government fixed a timeline to the contractors to complete and hand over the temporary Secretariat building by June 2016.  The approximate estimate of what the AP government is going to spend on this construction is 200 crores.

After changing the location of the proposed temporary secretariat twice, government has again finally decided the Velagapudi location, which is about 15 km from Vijayawada city.

After completing the foundation ceremony with the Vedic chanting, Chandrababu has given a 1 hour elaborated speech. During his speech, he touched several topics right from the state’s bifurcation to the capital city selection. He also stated that there have been several misconceptions among the people due to the bad propaganda of opposition parties about the construction of temporary secretariat. He emphasized that the secretariat which is going to be constructed is temporary but not the buildings.

As usual, the opposition parties are not very happy with this decision as this is not the first time when the AP government changed locations for a temporary secretariat and they are also upset with the way the AP government spent money so extravagantly on the inauguration of the new state capital city Amravati back in October 2015.
