Telangana Budget 2017-18 Highlights

Telangana Finance Minister, Etela Rajender presented budget for the financial year 2017-18 in the legislative assembly.  Etela Rajender presented a tax free development cum welfare oriented ₹1,49,446 crore budget.

 

Etela Rajender presented his fourth budget in Telangana assembly focusing more on Growth and welfare. Etela announced allocation of ₹5,943 crore for the agriculture sector and ₹4,000 crore towards fourth instalment of loan waiver scheme for the farm sector. Sector wise, the irrigation sector has been allocated ₹25,000 crore, panchayati raj ₹14,723 crore, roads ₹5033 crore, power sector ₹4,203 crore, health ₹5,976 crore, municipal administration ₹5,599 crore, Mission Bhagiratha ₹3,000 crore, IT ₹253 crore, industries ₹985 crore and education ₹12,705 crore.

 

A special development fund SC and ST’s has been created allocating ₹14,375 crore and and ₹8,166 crore. TRS government has allotted ₹1,259.66 crore for minority welfare and set aside ₹1,940 crore for fee reimbursement. Also, ₹198 crore has been allotted for Tourism sector. Government is expecting Tourism sector to be a job creating sector in the coming years. ₹252.89 crores are allotted for Information Technology sector.

 

Total Budget - ₹ 1,49,646 crore;

Planned Expenditure: ₹ 61,607.20 crore;

Revenue Expenditure: ₹ 50,954.61 crore
Revenue Surplus: ₹ 4,571.30 crore;

Fiscal Deficit: ₹ 26,096.31 crore

 

Telangana Chief Minister, K Chandrasekhar Rao announced that the budget is for pro-poor and for pro-backward castes.
