Actor turned politician Pawan Kalyan extended his support to nearly one lakh fishermen in Bhimavaram which lies in Delta region of Andhra’s west Godavari district. Farmers and fishermen are currently protesting the construction of Aqua food factory which is a part of Godavari Aqua Mega park. Victims of Aqua Food Park being set up in Bhimavaram have met Jana Sena Chief to bring their plight to his notice. 'Aqua Food Park would pollute as many as 10 villages. Government even booked cases under Section 307 against them for protesting against the factory.
Pawan Kalyan said that the fishermen are worried that the food park would pollute the Yenamadarru canal which provides drinking water and is a lifeline to the people. Pointing out that such factories should be located in non-agriculture lands and not on fertile crop-yielding ones, Pawan Kalyan also stated that he was not against industrialization.
Much to everyone's surprise, Pawan Kalyan allowed Farmers to share stage with him during the press conference. He said he doesn’t understand why the government is setting up Aqua food park only in that region. He mentioned that the was surprised why government is not taking minimum measures of not setting up industries in Agricultural lands. He cautioned that this movement might lead to another Nandigram and might lead to caste politics. He questioned Godavari district MP’s and MLA’s for their silence on this issue. He said he is ready to lead a peaceful protest against the TDP Government. He praised CPI Leaders for fighting for farmers on this issue and said he will join them if needed.
