Pattiseema Project is NOW South India's First River Link

16 September 2015

Late Abdul Kalam’s dream, interlinking of rivers in India became a reality today. Andhra Pradesh achieved this feat, when chief minister Chandra Babu Naidu switched on the first pump at Pattiseema to let the Godavari water into the Polavaram right main canal that links the Krishna river upstream of the prakasam barrage in Vijayawada.

The Godavari water from Pattiseema will travel around 174 km to Vijayawada passing through Tammileru and Gunderuvagu rivulets. Experts felt that the Pattiseema project will change the irrigations scenario in the state especially it will bring a major relief to the farmers in Delta. Subsquently the water stored at Srisailam will be used by Rayalaseema only. This project was completed in a record time of 5 months.

AP Government released a video today explaining in detail about the benefits of the projects.
