Terror once again hit Pakistan as one of their military base on the outskirts of Peshawar is attacked by militants killing 29 people on Friday. Most of the deceased are worshippers who were holding prayers when militants stormed a mosque. Taliban claimed the responsibility for the attack. 13 attackers were killed by the security forces. It is not clearly known if any attackers have escaped.
Pakistan's Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif condemned the attack, saying: "Terrorists will be rooted out from the country."
After last year’s attack on a school in Peshwar where 150people were killed, most of them children, this attack came as a major blow to Pakistan’s military. Military stepped up their operations in the tribal region of Pakistan to weed out Taliban from the mountains there. Military with the help of air force and ground forces hit the target militant hideouts.
