NITI Aayog praises AP for its governance

AP state Government has won compliments from the NITI Aayog for applying the best practices in state governance. A report called 'State Forward Best Practices from our States' release two days back, Aadhar- enabled fertilizer distribution system, public distribution system, Swachh Vidyalaya, Policy Intervention for Fisheries, land pooling and digitalization of transportation are listed.

NITI Aayog ( National Institution for Transforming India) is a Government of India policy think-tank established by the Narendra Modi government to replace the Planning Commission. The stated aim for NITI Aayog's creation is to foster involvement and participation in the economic policy-making process by the State Governments of India. The Union Government of India announced the formation of NITI Aayog on 1 January 2015, and the first meeting was held on 8 February 2015. The Prime Minister serves as the Ex-officio chairman. A team of over 60 people, senior officials, advisers, Officers on Special Duty, research officers and young professionals identified and evaluated the case studies with the "most compelling prospects" in other states. A digital dash board (AePDS ) which enables people to access public distribution system and status easily. AePDS, Department of consumer Affairs, Food & Civil Supplies was initiated by Babu Ahmed, Collector on an experimental basis when he was Joint Collector of East Godavari district four years ago. It is now being implemented on a full scale of Krishna district across the board on 13 districts after being successful in Krishna District.

Referring to the Dashboard, NITI Aayog said that, it provided a bird's-eye view of the state's situation -- the performance of different schemes as well as that of government departments to both the state leadership and the public. "It has, therefore, improved awareness and accountability.
