Indian American businessman arrested for wife’s murder in New Jersey

A 46-year-old Indian American in New Jersey who is also an owner of Collingswood quick stop has been charged with the alleged murder of his wife. Police allege 46-year-old Nitin Singh stabbed his wife, Seema Singh (42) to death while her three children were asleep. He was standing in the room at the time police arrived, and was taken into custody.

 

Nitin Singh was charged with first-degree murder, second-degree aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, according to the report. He was lodged in the Salem County Correctional Facility on $1 million full cash bail. Singh and his wife were having marital problems, according to an NBC Philadelphia report. He was standing in the room at the time police arrived, and was taken into custody.

 

Police and EMS were sent to the couple's home on North Broadway in Pennsville in Salem County around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday( July 19th) after getting a call about a cardiac arrest. Soon after, they found Seema Singh's body on the kitchen floor with stab wounds, according to NBC Philadelphia. Pennsville police officers found the woman lying dead on the floor of the kitchen, stabbed multiple times, according to nj.com. Her husband was standing over the victim, covered in blood.Their children, ages 5, 6 and 15, were asleep at the time and will not be witnesses, although child protective services did take custody of the three. Child protective services is working with members of the family's church to keep the kids together, according to the NBC report.
